Dandelion ( Taraxacum officinale ) is seen by many as a weed that creates yellow flower carpets in spring. Thanks to numerous health-promoting properties, it is widely used, e.g. in herbalism. Dandelion is a perennial from the Asteraceae family and blooms from April to August. It probably originated in Europe, although it can now be found throughout the temperate climate zone. The properties of dandelion are determined primarily by sesquiterpene lactones.
