L-taurine , or 2-aminoethylsulfonic acid, is a compound classified as a non-protein amino acid. This means that, unlike most of the most well-known amino acids, it does not have the ability to form peptide bonds and does not build proteins. Nevertheless, it is a very important compound for the body - a biogenic amino acid , i.e. essential for life. Hence its very abundant presence in tissues (mainly in skeletal muscles) and in the bloodstream. The importance of taurine in the body is evidenced by the fact that it makes up about 1/1000 of the weight of the human body and is therefore the most abundant non-protein amino acid in the body.
L-taurine is formed in the body as a result of metabolic transformations of cysteine and methionine (endogenous amino acid) or can be supplied with food. Because the endogenous synthesis of taurine is limited and decreases with age, and in food this amino acid is found only in products of animal origin, deficiencies of this ingredient may occur - especially in physically and mentally active people, athletes, people on a vegetarian or vegan diet and in the elderly.
The Aliness L-Taurine product is recommended for people undertaking increased physical and intellectual effort, as well as vegetarians, vegans and the elderly.
Aliness L-Taurine does not contain any animal ingredients, making it a suitable source of L-taurine for vegans. The product does not contain any artificial technological additives, preservatives or dyes.
